Harry was indeed lost. Or all the personas were equally important, with no one to control and direct them, even though at the same time they were doing what Harry wanted them to.

Harry didn't look very calm, no. I think, as much as anything else, Hermione ran away to avoid her own fear. She had no idea how to handle Harry, and knew it. The Healers would have some idea of how to. She went to them much as she would go to a professor in Hogwarts, to solve a problem she couldn't.

More angst in general (of course), but, I think, a genuinely happy ending.

As you can see from reading Chapter 39, Harry made Hermione's story sound so ridiculous the Healers are unlikely to spread it further. He'll have to deal with her embarrassment as well as her fear and contrition when they meet again. And he will have to try and restrain Draco.
