Feel free to use profanity if you want :). I know it's not aimed at me.

Portraying Ron's perspective is very difficult, because he doesn't get a POV. (Someday I am going to write a story from Ron's POV, and it will actually work). I would say that he's the kind of person who can make exceptions for gay people in his life, but doesn't want to think about them as part of a larger group, the same way I know people who will say, "Oh, you're a girl, but you're not like those other girls."

I think you could also say that Harry should have forced Hermione to confront the issue if he wanted her to address rights for GLBT wizards, but again that gets into the issue of whose fault it is, whether she could have trusted Harry even if he asked, whether he could have pushed her to extend her social justice fight, and so on. It's very hard to tell who was at fault first (as opposed to right now). I did that on purpose.

If Harry hadn't lied so long, maybe they wouldn't have reacted like that. (It's the lies that are hurting Ron and Hermione most right now). On the other hand, Harry is about convinced that their friendship is ended now, and I do agree that they could have been more sensitive.

Hermione probably didn't mean to sound grudging about Draco, but she doesn't really know why Harry loves him yet, and that makes it hard for her to sound any other way.

I think Hermione has already decided that Harry will never seek help on his own, hence why she opened fire.
