Ron and Hermione have been largely off-stage as a symbol of how disconnected Harry has become from his own personal life. He shows even them a mask, and because he doesn't spend a huge portion of his time with them anymore- they have jobs and relatively normal lives; he pretends to go out only with them and to be essentially a recluse the rest of the time- he's grown used to thinking of them as distant. He still loves them, but they can't share the obsession that's taken central stage in his life for a decade.
At the moment, Ron and Hermione are doing something that will result in an explosion a few chapters hence.
