True. Harry is obsessing over the hypothetical. But he's the only one- besides Ginny- who knows how strongly he really felt in that moment, and the ways he sees it, it was Ginny's tears which stopped him, not his own willpower. Next time, there might not be that outside factor mitigating things. So he takes the potion and counts himself lucky.
I honestly didn't think about the chest monster, but hey! Any good symbolism...
Ginny was seriously kissing Dean, but she wanted Harry to get jealous and want her back so she could "capitulate" and return. She never counted on what happened. I do feel sorry for her; she didn't purposely mean to hurt Harry, or get hurt.
Draco has very good reasons for seeing someone else. Not that Harry reacts well to it, of course.
The sequel will be moving in the direction of slash. It depends on whether or not you think slash has to mean "two people already in a relationship" instead of "longing for it."
