I'm guessing that the mystery potion is something to do with Harry's temper/anger-management issues, possibly tied to his history as a horcrux. That's why he's so sanguine about so many exes leaving him for his friends. I suspect the Incident which brokeup H/G opened everyone's eyes to the extent of Harry's problem and led to the potion-brewing-as-bandaid.
The notion of it removing what's most-loathed makes me want to skim back and see his scar has been mentioned, or if that's (subtly) gone too.
Anyway, really engaging story. Can't wait for more!
