It asks the same essential questions you are exploring in a similar fashion. And Harry stumbling toward a more pragmatic ethical view is fantastic; I love witnessing this development. And the horror! The image of the replicas morphing from child-like to murderous is fantastic and very creepy. I love the image of the fingers and ribs literally binding Draco to the maze.
