Thank you! Trying to write too much would probably have deadened the air of mystery, though, and I was trying to let the centaurs still be enigmas, the way they are in several of JKR's books.
I know what you mean about Harry and Draco's story. The centaurs certainly sidelined the kidnapping plot that was my original impetus for the story, and almost sidelined them.
