This story is just incredible. I forced myself to wait until it was complete (only because getting addicted to WIPs drives me nutty) even though the summary tempted me desperately, and it was so, so worth it.
I've always liked stories that show alternative lives/worlds where things could go a different way, but I've never found one done so well as this one. You kept me guessing, and I could feel the torments or emotions each character experienced. It was a romance with a great mystery/action thriller to boot, and you handled it all marvelously. A mark of a very well done story, indeed!
