Though it's not something that's really come up in this story, I think Ron knows Ginny better, and thus knows her faults. Hermione didn't grow up with her. Ron still loves her, of course, but I think it's easier for a sibling to believe their sibling is in the wrong than it is for one friend to believe it of another friend.
