Draco strengthened Harry in so many ways. If Harry weren't able to hold his ground and fight for what HE wants, too, there's no way he could be in an equal relationship with Draco. He still loves Ron and Hermione, but he has seen that he can argue with someone whom he loves and still have them in the end, so he applies the lessons to them, too.
