lovely. i really enjoyed the intricacies of curse, and the gradual rethinking and turning around that harry experiences once he has someone to communicate with, especially someone as proud and unrelenting, in his way, as draco is. the description of pride as metal was quite beautiful, in particular. a very nice metaphor. i also enjoyed the use of latin. there are so many beautiful poems written in the ancient languages, and i've always thought it so interesting when reading horace and recognizing the word play employed, since syntax is irrelevant. i also noticed that you have a theme you occassionally touch back on, that of authority that has been corrupted through conceit or pride or jealousy or misplaced anger; i can see doctors becoming resentful of patients, but the fiction takes it to another level, especially when you write harry's friends as oblivious to his maltreatment. to consider someone less intelligent because they do not speak english, however, that was a difficult concept, because unfortunately it does occur, and more often that it should.
