Draco is disappointed, but he refuses to betray that emotion. And he does have the potential to trust others as they're brought into the instructors' group that's forming.

Harry honestly didn't think of it. He's a bit touchy about secrets and Draco, as you'll see in the next chapter.

Ketchum got so irritated of explaining his name that he made sure everyone near him knew about them.

(This is a theory I encountered in a book of essays about Tolkien. I do think it's interesting that Sam is the only one who takes up the Ring and then puts it down again without a struggle).
