Ketchum doesn't necessarily know Nihil personally; he simply knows a lot about him, and he picked up on the familiarity with which Nihil treated him.
Draco is getting more and more scared now that he sees the instructors treat the threat seriously, too, and it's not just his and Harry's private adventure.
