I also love the "crumb test", and I fear that if Margate is so dim and obnoxious, that he's going to eventually end up giving H&D away. And if Nusquam et al can still wander around the facilities so insouciantly, perhaps H&D need to stay together all of the time, since they are so much stronger together (among other reasons *cough* ;).
