Distance was another hard one too, and I don't think I have it down completely. Not quite yet. (I love my characters too much, I have biases for pairs, and there are some characters that I never want to hurt -- but try to. I'm getting closer, though. Last month I just wrote one where I killed one of my newest and most prized pet characters in another fandom. ._____. That hurt. Like hell. I cried. Five times.)
But for me, the writing for oneself was really hard, especially since one of my earliest stories scored such high review ratings that I started expecting a standard and began to disappoint myself whenever I didn't reach that standard with the next stories (which was quite often, mind you, since my other plots weren't, err, reader-friendly). The more and more I write nowadays, too, I see more non-reader-friendly plots popping up. The type that has heavy angst labels on them, or the type that has the unusual pairs that no one even wants to do so much as touch it. My brain works in mysterious ways. 8DD So I had to learn. Thar.
Yes, I do, actually. 8DDDDDDDDDDD Squuuuuiiiiiiiirm awaaaaaaaayyyy.
