Nothing annoys me as much as a conflict placed between characters just because the writer wanted to place it there. Plotting without proper reason behind the twists -- alakjflkg. My muse would howl obscenities at me.
Though the thing is, sometimes the "I can't explain it because I really can't talk about it" ploy works well when the writer has enough skill to manipulate the story to where the worse points of the (awfully cliche) conflict are underplayed and the better points are emphasized. If there's an actual proper reason as to why they're not talking to each other about what they've seen and misunderstood, then hell, why not? Downside: you'd be hard-pressed to find a story of that caliber. And most of the time, the writers that can pull that off prefer to write the more mature "I can talk about it" version of the characters, so.
Liking possessive Draco is perfectly understandable, you know. No big deal. *pats* Everyone does, anyway.
AND YES, PLEASE. I LIKE ANGST, AND I KNOW I LIKE ANGST -- I'M A MASO THAT WAY -- BUT PLEASE NOT DRACO. (Strangely enough, I take it easier when the angst falls on Harry. *boggle*)
