Draco didn't mean to play with Harry (just like Harry didn't mean to hurt him). But he told himself that he needed to see Harry jump first before he could follow. Until that moment came, all he could do was encourage Harry to jump.

I like your point about different kinds of courage. Ginny is brave in the books, but mostly we see that reported second-hand rather than first. I think that's one reason that most people in fandom seem to think of her as weak and someone who can't stand up to Harry, or someone who would cheat and not tell him.

I find it really, really hard to write a normal Ron and Hermione. Hopefully they came across here.

You could argue that Harry has an agenda, too, but at least this time it worked with James!

I know what you mean. I do think Draco is necessary as the catalyst for the change, and because Harry couldn't make the change just for himself; he's not that kind of person (and most of the people in his life would probably rather that things had stayed the same). But this is really Harry's story, and you see much less of Draco's psychological change, though it does exist.

(I wonder how you will react to the Courting!fic I'm writing, where Draco is courting Harry).
