I'm seeing a similarity to what was done to Harry and what was done to Scorpius. Obviously, Harry was tortured and Scorpius' family worked magic to improve him. Still, Harry had his flesh reshaped, and Scorpius had his mind reshaped: each made malleable then hardened in its new form.
Hearing Harry's story broke through some of Draco's preconceptions. There's still a world to go before these two understand each other.
