I don't think the exact version of Draco he loved existed (or exists anymore, at least). But then, the Harry Draco thought Harry was (does that make sense?) doesn't exist anymore, either. Maybe this will be a chance for both of them to learn anew.
Draco thinks that Harry being scarred is somehow contagious, for lack of a better word- contagious in its bad luck even if not literally.
