Snape is moving in the right direction, but at the moment, he doesn't have anyone to prod him there: no Harry in the Manor to give him unexpected glimpses of his past and Harry's emotions, no new exasperating behavior from Draco to make him rethink things. And he still doesn't like Harry, even if he's coming closer to respecting him.
Draco did intend to be honest, and then he let it collapse, because it was easier to lie to Harry. He really needs to stop doing things because they're easy and convenient.
