It would probably be easier if he could see something the Malfoys stood to gain. But since he's already assured them that he'll heal Lucius without bribery and they seem to accept that, he's lost as to why they're giving him all these things. Draco's reasoning about pure-blood adoptions is too alien for him to accept easily.
Draco is going to do even more interesting things in the next chapter.
