Well I still haven't caught with all of your incredible WIPs (even as they are culminating gloriously) as of yet, but I had to read this one as it was the ultimate confrontation that had been lying in wait for so long.
I don't know exactly why this was so hard to read. It speaks to so many of the difficulties that manifest when an individual comes out. Wrapped up in secrets and lies and finding a common ground where personal relationships are defined by more than one's sexual orientation of choice of partner; the metaphor of the reverse pensieve as a form of suicidal ideation spoke volumes. In the end, Harry didn't pull the trigger, he made another choice, but it was because someone loved him, more than he loved himself, and that made all the difference.
I have so many mixed feelings as to this denouement. I like and loathe that it leaves so much unspoken. This isn't an ending with nice clean resolutions. There are travails ahead and many obstacles to overcome, but that's just like real life, isn't it?!
It's good to be back ... even if succumbing to your dramatic license is another cross to bear ;-}
