Ooh, that was great. I loved the scene between Harry and Draco, how it wasn't perfect, but it was honest and real, and perfect in its own right because there was absolutely NO pretense between them. Did their magic join again?
Harry's story about failing everyone just hurt. Yes, each individual instance wasn't that big of an issue, but taken together, it is clear why Metamorphosis saved Harry. People were expecting FAR too much from him, without taking the time to care FOR him, to help him recover emotionally from the war. Expecting him to continually be their hero, but not allowing him time to heal. Yes, I can totally see how Metamorphosis was a refuge for Harry, something that allowed him to meet other people's expectations without all the burdens. It has not, however, helped him to heal from his trauma and guilt. Rather, it has been an escape, which means that Harry still has not faced and dealt with his issues. Having Draco there to listen and understand him, to provide Harry someone he can rely on, however, will do more for Harry than anything, and certainly much more than anything Ron and Hermione have done to help Harry.
As long as Harry stays in control of his personas, he's fine, and he'll stay fine, particularly with Draco there to help him through it. I was really disappointed in Hermione, though, how she tried to make this about her, in that if Harry doesn't want help, then he doesn't want to be her friend anymore. Bitch. I know she thought she was helping him, but she needs to break out of her narrow "I-know-best" world view and actually listen to him, make an attempt to understand him without judging him. I loved Harry's answer. Because really, she was forcing him to choose, and she hasn't put any effort into helping him or listening to him over the years. I wonder what she'll do if/when she realizes just how much she has hurt Harry, if Draco confronts her with the consequences of her actions.

Brilliant. Looking forward to more, as always.
