AMWM 10 (aka Creatures are People Too)

Oh Boy! Why do I get the feeling that this is just the opening gambit in a more prolonged attack? I think the facts that Daphne tortured Draco and held him against his will are going to have to come out soon. I just can't see a situation where there is a trial (assuming there is one) where she wouldn't have to testify (under Veritaserum no less) and her "peculiarities" wouldn't become more of a showcase than what happened to her. Not that I wouldn't seeing such a comeuppance, mind ;-}

Draco's reaction and subsequent coordination between Millicent & Hermione was quite well played out. I wondered how he would manage, but there was no flight reaction, and his fight instinct was molded from initial outrage to more careful Slytherin planning.

I do believe that this situation puts Kingsley in a precarious position as you described, but there's an opportunity here as well. To not only get to the bottom of the conspirators' agenda, but to look wise and thoughtful, while protecting not only the Savior, but the wizarding world at large. I hope any "plea bargain," wouldn't entail Harry going back on his potion, and I seriously doubt Draco would allow it. Perhaps a more enlightened agreement like no one hurts Draco (or anyone else close to Harry) and Harry promises not to eat any more magic. Sounds fair to me, but not plausible with the intricacy of your stories ;-}

I do find that a law that does not apply to "people," is being used here. I suspect because werewolves. vampires et al. are not allowed wands, that it's a simple foot in the door to start depriving extraordinary wizards that right as well. I do wonder why they think applying this law to Harry is going to elevate their cause. Maybe the Malfoys should have tried it with Voldemort, certainly he was more of a creature, than human ... oh wait, they were working for him. Draco's thoughts regarding his parents' motives strike me as possible, but as always, I'm sure there are underlying motivations that I'm not seeing. Just the way I like it ;-}

Thanks again for another splendid chapter and have a great weekend!
