Part of it is Harry's fault. If he had been open with Ron and Hermione from the beginning, they might have come to understand. But of course, he hasn't been open with anyone.

Ron actually does support Harry. The main problem is that he's never been forced to face the fact that Harry is gay, because Harry hasn't dated anyone that Ron knows of, hasn't kissed anyone in front of him, etc. So he's reacting out of naivete and with no real experience in what having a gay friend means.
