My real life has finally calmed down enough for me to catch up on all of your fics, and while I am so happy I have, I also feel terribly bad because I haven't been commenting at all. If you don't mind comments on chapters that you wrote a couple of months ago, I will endeavor to comment on this and your other recent fics when I do my standard re-read of your stories. I hardly know where to begin with the comments, so I will attempt to just comment on this chapter and not on what I've loved in all the chapters proceeding this one.
I love the different ways that Harry and Hermione fight. It is so in character, and the affection that shines through in their interactions is lovely. You really remember that these two spent seven years protecting each other in situations like these, and that they should be even more formidable now that they're adults. I especially like the way that Harry teases Hermione for having no patience with herself for missing anything.
I also really love the way that we see Harry's thought process in how to keep his need to see Draco as soon as humanly possible in check so that he doesn't end up injured or compromised. Also, his desire to see Draco in St. Mungo's (so long as he could shower him with affection and attention!) was just adorable. It's been great to see Harry's progression to this point - he's so honest with himself about the depth and nature of his feelings for Draco, even as he acknowledges that they don't make strict sense when you consider how little he knows Draco compared with how he knew Ginny or Ron. But it's not about history alone, it's about fundamental compatibility, and that's what I feel like this Harry/Draco have.
And I LOVE LOVE LOVE Draco playing Daphne's (well-earned) arrogance about her magical strength and cunning against her. His use of Hermione as a diversion was fantastic. It could have backfired, if Daphne had tried to prevent Hermione from staying with Harry by harming her rather than trapping her, but man that was a great tactical move. Daphne has no idea who the man hunting her is. Draco isn't as knowledgeable as he thinks, either, but he has more of a clue than she does. I also love the particular brand of batshitcrazy that Daphne is. It fits.
Um, Chapter 20 is just the final chapter of this part of the story, right? There's a Part 3, I believe? Or did I just invent that? Please tell my I'm not making this up. *Bats eyelashes*
