The pendulum metaphor is accurate. On the other hand, if they can just drop their stubbornness and their pride, then they stand a good chance of getting on well together.

Draco's mostly worried that talking about the potion at all would drive Harry away. Or, even worse, he might expose himself as vulnerable- desiring Harry, but put off by the potion- and then be hurt by the blow he's been dealt when Harry ignores him or pulls away. This Draco is very, very prickly as far as his pride goes. He'd find it hard to see Harry looking at him with contempt in his eyes, or even just explaining gently why he's going to disregard Draco's POV on the matter.

Harry does feel those emotions, but literally only for a moment. It's one of the things that makes him hard to write. And he doesn't want them back, which makes it harder.

And thank you so much! Daphne is so horribly, horribly awful to Draco that it's fun in a perverse way; how can I make him suffer today?
