A need for vengeance has always been one of those concepts I simultaneously love and hate reading about. I get uneasy when it's presented as moral. (For me, one of the most disappointing parts of HBP was when Harry said that he was basically fighting Voldemort for vengeance). In this case, I do want to show that Andromeda may have started off with moral intentions, but they sure didn't stay there for long.
If Harry and Draco hadn't found each other, or if Andromeda had moved earlier, things would have been different- much worse.
Believe it or not, I didn't know I would involve the crypts until this chapter. But that's the neat thing about planting loose threads in the story that you can come back to later.
