Great storyline and the more complicated the better because you do it so well. I don't see the issue re Universal Chaos as this story sounds different enough to me. In fact on re-reading your note I don't think I would have made the connection had you not mentioned it. As others say above, just let it flow and the rest will follow. I feel you love the challenge. :)
