I love how you can create completely broken characters that still demand my attention and sympathy. Poor Harry can't trust anyone; Draco's spent so much time retreating into his fantasies that he's having trouble reconciling with the "real" Harry. I think he needed that slap of reality at the end of this chapter, though I can't help feeling it had to hurt.
Adele comes across as a suicide waiting to happen...a lovely touch of bittersweet hint at character development. I also want to know more about Shadow, and how she got into this business. It's interesting that for such a large-scale brothel, we only see one employee of Draco's...maybe the others are all busy, or creepily absent.
For that matter, I'm wondering if Keatson's body is really just an illusion. We don't have any evidence leaving the fantasy room except Shadow's scales. What a twist it would be for the entire murder investigation to be a ruse to lure Harry into letting himself go--perhaps even by order of Kingsley? Even curiouser that Kingsley would be persuading Harry to take a vacation before the investigation is closed.
