Oh...such a well-written moment of truth! I have been waiting for this and I love it!
You write about pride so well and the sad thing is, Harry did successfully attack Draco's pride when he brought up Draco's lack of originality. I have a feeling that first and foremost, Draco will be more upset about that than being upset about losing Harry. And for that, I can't help but pity him, as despicable as his revenge is.
I also have a feeling that Harry will be even more popular than he was before and that the article will only inspire fantasies amongst his fans and/or even enemies. Harry won't be happy about it because it would only threaten his safety & privacy and garner more star-struck admirers (after all, who doesn't like to see a sweet vulnerable side in the powerful?). I'm sure Draco will be even more pissed that his revenge ended up working against what he wanted. He might even be looked down upon as well for betraying the Boy Who Lived and be jealous of the extra attention Harry will get for simply existing.
I really feel bad for both of them. I love your in-denial Draco; I usually see Draco's pursuing Harry relentlessly in fan fic's or accepting his feelings relatively smoothly. This feels real. Thank you so much for writing this and I think I'm done with annoying you with speculations. I can't wait to find out what happens next.
