faustine was quite an interesting character, although i'm keeping an eye out for her if she's astute enough to notice harry's feelings for draco.
as for hermione, i like the rings. although i can't imagine she gets much work done on her own, bothering harry all the time like that. what i think is most interesting, though, is the clash between harry and hermione's views on different people. i think the inclusion of their silent dialogue and hermione's almost omniscience really forces the reader to more deeply consider the other characters and their motives in trying to reconcile hermione's cautiousness and harry's inclination toward trust.
