I see what you're saying, yes. But this is 50 chapters and staying that way! No matter how much it wants to grow. :)

(Seriously, one of my big weaknesses- and I learned this the hard way- is that when I try to write very, very long stories, they inevitably turn into soap operas. It's better to end them while the plot is still somewhat coherent).
