Whoa! This had a depth of characterization I'm more used to you describing in a much longer story. The subtle shift in Harry's perspective as he snoops on Draco was thrilling to watch. The epilogue left so much unsaid as to how things materialized in the intervening 19 years and you were able to posit a remarkably cogent means by which a 7th year re-do would have happened in such a concise manner.
There was a palpable sense of loss in Draco; not just in stature and respect, but a reduction of self in the mirrors and self-addressed letters. I ached to read to read what he wrote himself. Perhaps the letters were filled with regrets, or perhaps re-affirmations. Whatever they contained, they were secondary to the discovery of how Harry and Draco had endured similar feelings in the lack of worth that made them more equal and wounded by their pasts. How you brought them together was marvelous and left me wanting more, i.e. where do they go from here ... and yet I was happy with how it ended, with hope and a surprising optimism that however their story unfolded, it was a bright and new beginning.
Ms. Dyson is fortunate to have been gifted with such a treatise. Thank you for sharing it with the rest of us!
