I honestly didn't mean Hermione to come across as bitchy as she did. But sometimes the story knows what it's doing better than I do.

I think Harry changed in DH and stopped worrying as much about what everyone else thought. Certainly the Harry of the six books before that would never have used Unforgivables. Or maybe he just admitted to himself that he'd been breaking rules left and right for a long time and he wasn't as righteous as all that.
