Oh, yes. Actually, if Diggory hadn't been desperate, I doubt he would have tried this. It's one thing to have that power, another to reveal it by using it.

Willowberry was never meant to be a very dark character. (I don't think he could be, with his devotion to the Ministry and to holding himself up to strict standards as well). But he might be an ally for Harry after all.

The Wizengamot will be able to come up with all sorts of excuses, especially because a lot of the people there do believe quite sincerely that Harry is so dangerous he must be imprisoned, and they can't chance a personal friend, like Kingsley, saying that he shouldn't. But they didn't think Harry would demand Veritaserum, because, of course, he won't be able to control the questions they ask him, and they could learn something damaging. Right now, they're thrown.

Rita actually just came back to get new material for the story. She'll have been in Harry's cell for a while, and immediately tagged along when she realized where he was going.
