Summary: AU of His Darkest Devotion. Harry has been hiding his soul-mark all his life, since he fully understood that his soulmate, Minister Tom Riddle, stands on the opposite side of a vast political divide from his parents and godfather. A fulfilled soulmate bond would double or quadruple Riddle’s magical power and ensure his immortality. But now his parents have been exiled as a result of their political activities against Minister Riddle, and the toll of the secret has worn on Harry so much that in his fifth year, he snaps and flees—straight to his soulmate.
Author’s Notes: This is an AU of my fanfiction His Darkest Devotion, and will make absolutely no sense without it. It’s also one of my “Songs of Summer” one-shots being posted between the summer solstice and the first of August. BlueNovaStar43 requested an AU of His Darkest Devotion, where at one point Harry tells Tom that he nearly sought Tom out when he was in his fifth year. I’ve quoted the relevant passage below.
