Yeah, I meant that to be Snape's motivation from the beginning, but I thought I should make it explicit, since I wasn't sure how many people were picking it up. That's the source of interest that Severus feels in Harry long before he knows that he's his son.
The Dementors are a subthread of the story, but a fairly major one.
Ron and Hermione will be around in Dumbledore's Army. The problem is that they're not viewpoint characters, so they can't be around during Severus or Draco's sections, and I wanted to establish those storylines first.
